Need Help Validating Offshore Simulation Results in ANSYS AQWA (Two Hinged Modules) -- 2
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m working on a hydrodynamic simulation in ANSYS AQWA involving two hinged floating offshore modules subjected to regular waves. The setup is based on a published reference study. While the heave motion results match the study well, I’m facing issues with surge and pitch motion, where the simulation outputs are inconsistent or inaccurate.
I’ve implemented:
Geometry and parameters identical to the reference (module dimensions, mooring, and mass properties)
Additional damping (P-Q method) and Morrison drag coefficients
Custom damping and drag matrices for both modules
Despite these efforts, the added damping only improves heave motion accuracy. I now need expert-level support to:
Fix the surge and pitch discrepancies
Validate and fine-tune damping coefficients and drag matrices
Review the current AQWA model setup, including boundary conditions and hydrodynamic inputs
Accurately calculate hinge forces between the modules
Optionally: Help refine time-domain outputs for better comparison
Requirements:
Strong experience with ANSYS AQWA
Solid understanding of floating systems, damping models, and wave-body interaction
Ability to quickly diagnose issues and propose technical corrections
I’ve already done most of the setup—just need expert insight to resolve the final mismatches and validate results. If you’ve worked on AQWA models involving RAOs, damping, and modular hydrodynamics, I’d love to work with you.
Quick Turnaround Needed.
Please share relevant experience and your estimated timeline.
