I have a regular flow of engineering-focused technical documents that need to move from English into natural, industry-ready Spanish. The content ranges from equipment specifications and test reports to safety guidelines, so precision and a solid grasp of engineering terminology are non-negotiable.
Here’s how I picture the collaboration:
You’ll translate each file with full regard for context, tone and any embedded formulas or tables, then self-revise to make sure the Spanish reads as if it were drafted that way from the start. I rely on CAT tools—SDL Trados, MemoQ or similar—to speed consistency, so please be comfortable working with them and sharing your final translation memory.
Because terminology consistency is critical, I’ll ask you to research tricky terms, document your findings and expand a living bilingual glossary for the project. Whenever questions arise, quick clarification over chat keeps us on schedule and avoids rework.
Confidentiality is essential; all material must stay strictly between us. Expect periodic peer review by another linguist on my side, and be ready to incorporate feedback promptly.
Deliverables for every batch:
• Clean, client-ready Spanish file in the original layout or tagged format
• Tracked-changes version showing all edits after self-review
• Updated glossary (CSV or XLSX) with any new engineering terms
Turnaround varies by file size, but most deadlines fall within three to five business days. If you also have experience with IT or medical terminology that’s a bonus for future work, though not required right now.
