Engineering Manual Translation Expert

Job ID: 39844086

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

The project centers on a complete Spanish ↔︎ English translation cycle for a collection of highly-detailed engineering manuals. Each manual must read as if it were originally written for a Spanish-speaking engineering audience while preserving every technical nuance found in the source files.

Scope of work
The assignment covers end-to-end linguistic production: accurate translation, internal review, terminology research, and final proofreading. Cultural and industry-specific adaptation is essential so that units, standards, and idiomatic expressions align with current engineering practice in Spanish-speaking markets.

Workflow & tools
SDL Trados is my preferred CAT environment, so all deliveries should arrive as fully cleaned target files plus the updated bilingual translation memories and termbases generated during the process. Consistency across chapters is crucial; fuzzy matches must be leveraged rather than re-created from scratch.

Confidentiality & collaboration
Source materials include proprietary product specifications, so strict confidentiality is mandatory. Expect direct collaboration with an international engineering team to clarify terminology, approve glossaries, and respect tight milestones without compromising accuracy.

Deliverables (per manual)
• Fully translated Spanish version in original layout
• Back-translation to English for QA spot checks (selected sections)
• Updated SDL Trados TMX and terminology glossary
• Brief change log summarizing any context-driven adaptations

Acceptance criteria
A manual is considered complete once all segments show 100 % translation status in Trados, terminology is consistent with the approved glossary, and a bilingual QA report records zero critical errors.

Timelines, file samples, and style guides will follow upon kickoff.
