Acoustic Report for Council Planning Application
Budget: $750 – $1,500 AUD
As part of the council planning application for a rooftop gym, the City of Yarra require the following:
"An acoustic report prepared by a suitably qualified person which assesses any impacts from the proposed use to surrounding residential uses, with any treatment measures suitably shown on the floor plans."
I require a certified professional to:
Travel to site and undertake an inspection of the gym and identify the nearest affected receivers
• Whilst on site, undertake measurements of noise levels from a typical class
• If a secure location can be identified, place an automated noise logger at the subject site to measure existing background noise levels in the area. Measurements will need to be conducted at a location representative of
the nearest noise sensitive receivers
• Return to site and retrieve the noise logger
• Determine noise criteria for the gym considering EPA in addition to general guidance regarding sleep disturbance from the EPA Road Noise Policy
• Predict noise levels from the operation of the gym at the nearest affected residential receiver locations. Input into the noise model will be based on measurements undertaken at the gym.
• Compare the predicted noise levels with the relevant criteria and, if required, determine appropriate mitigation measures and/or managerial controls for the control of noise from the gym
• Prepare a report summarising our findings and recommendations in a format suitable for submission to the Responsible Authority.
