Elevator Pit Infill Engineering Design
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
I need a complete engineering package for a concrete infill that will permanently occupy the elevator pit of a residential building. The infill’s only duty is structural support—no waterproofing or fire-rating functions are required—so the design must safely carry elevator guide-rail reactions and any additional residential code loads.
The structure must be reinforced concrete; temporary steel formwork or anchors are fine during construction, but the finished element has to be concrete. Clearances are limited, so please keep the pit depth specified by the lift supplier and maximise headroom above.
Deliverables (PDF and editable CAD):
• Signed structural drawings: plan, sections and reinforcement schedules
• Design calculations that demonstrate compliance with the residential portions of the applicable code (ACI/IBC or Eurocode—state your approach)
• Brief installation sequence and concrete mix specifications
Acceptance criteria:
• All vertical, lateral and impact loads from the elevator manufacturer are resisted with at least a 2.0 safety factor
• Documents are permit-ready and suitable for contractor pricing
