Wireless Welding Remote Design

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m building a long range handheld wireless remote dedicated to fine-tuning welding current on the fly. The unit only needs to change the machine’s amperage and give the welder immediate visual confirmation on a small LCD screen—no start/stop trigger or emergency shutdown is required.

What I need from you is the complete electronic and firmware design for this remote:

• A robust wireless link (BLE, proprietary 2.4 GHz, or other low-latency RF you can justify) that reliably transmits real-time current set-points in a high-noise shop environment.
• Schematic, PCB layout, BOM, and enclosure suggestions sized for a palm-held form factor.
• Firmware that reads user input (rotary encoder, buttons, or another ergonomic control you propose), drives an LCD, and handles secure, interference-resistant communication with the welder’s receiver module.
• Clear interface specs for integrating the receiver with standard welding power supplies so I can fabricate a matching base unit later.

Acceptance criteria: the design must demonstrate sub-250 ms adjustment latency, maintain connection at 10 m line-of-sight through metal clutter, and display the sent amperage value on the LCD without flicker.

Hand off all native design files (Altium/KiCad, source code, and brief build/test instructions) so I can prototype and field-test immediately.
