AI Voice Assistant Device with Android

Job ID: 40177083

Budget: ₹37,500 – ₹75,000 INR

I’m taking an existing in-house smart speaker prototype and evolving it into a compact, production-ready consumer electronics product. The current prototype validates functionality, but the next phase is about clean hardware integration, manufacturability, and form factor.

The goal is a fully wireless, compact circular smart speaker with integrated compute, audio, microphones, power management, and display, engineered as a real product rather than a dev-board assembly.

Where we are today

• Functional proof-of-concept built using a Banana Pi M5 with multiple off-the-shelf components.
• External wiring, HDMI display, separate audio modules, and development adapters.
• 3D-printed circular enclosure used for form-factor and interaction testing.
• System validates voice interaction, audio output, sensors, and display, but is bulky and not production-ready.

What I need next

I’m looking for a hardware / electronics engineer based in India who can help re-architect this into a compact, integrated, product-grade hardware design.

The work includes moving away from Banana Pi and dev boards, selecting a suitable embedded compute solution, designing a compact circular PCB, integrating microphones, speakers, power management, and peripherals, and reducing wiring to a clean, manufacturable setup.

This is a hands-on hardware build, not a simulation or documentation-only task.

Scope of work

• Review the existing prototype architecture.
• Recommend and select appropriate embedded compute hardware.
• Design or assist with custom PCB layout suitable for a circular enclosure.
• Integrate far-field microphones, audio amplifier, speaker output, and power system.
• Reduce external wiring and consolidate components into a clean internal layout.
• Support physical assembly and iterative testing of the prototype.
• Ensure the design is manufacturable, serviceable, and scalable.

Deliverables

Schematic and PCB layout for the compact circular board.

Bill of Materials with production-available components.

One fully assembled and power-on-tested prototype.

Basic documentation for hardware bring-up and replication.

Requirements

• Must be based in India.
• Prior experience building real, physical electronics products.
• Comfortable working with embedded systems, PCBs, wiring, and assembly.
• Experience taking prototypes beyond dev boards and breadboards.

Nice to have

• Experience with consumer electronics or audio products.
• Experience working on compact enclosures and space-constrained designs.
• Familiarity with early-stage hardware product development.

I’m ready to share the existing prototype, enclosure files, and system details as soon as we begin.
The objective is to move fast and build a clean, reliable hardware prototype that feels like a real product, not an experiment.
