Phase Zero PCB Feasibility Review for Secure Hardware Wallet
Before starting the full PCB design, I would like to do a Phase Zero feasibility review to confirm whether you can professionally complete this project.
I am building a one-board secure Bitcoin hardware wallet prototype.
Core hardware stack:
- 2x Renesas RA8M1 R7FA8M1AHECFB#AA0
- Microchip TA101 secure signer
- NXP SE052F secure element
- ID Quantique IDQ6MC1 QRNG
- DS28E38 authenticator / anti-clone chip
- Sharp LS027B7DH01A Memory LCD
- USB-C, microSD, LiPo charger, buttons, tamper switch, external SPI flash
For Phase Zero, I am not asking you to design the full PCB yet. I need a review of the BOM, architecture, pin assignments, power tree, and manufacturability risks.
Please confirm if you can review and deliver:
1. Whether the design is realistic as a compact one-board prototype
2. Recommended PCB layer count: 4-layer vs 6-layer
3. Missing datasheets, footprints, symbols, or package drawings
4. Power-tree review: battery, charger, 3.3V / 2.8V / 1.8V rails
5. USB-C, microSD, display, secure element, and QRNG integration risks
6. Whether the RA8M1 pin assignments look valid
7. DFM/assembly risks for one professionally assembled prototype
8. A written list of blockers before full schematic/PCB layout
9. Your recommended next steps for schematic capture and PCB layout
Important requirements:
- Final design must be in KiCad or Altium
- I need a complete schematic, PCB layout, ERC/DRC clean files, Gerbers, drill files, BOM, CPL/pick-and-place, and assembly drawings in the later phase
- NDA may be required for one QRNG datasheet
- This is security hardware, so careful review matters
After that, if the review is solid, we can discuss the full schematic and PCB design phase.
