I am building a proof-of-concept 2D LiDAR unit from the ground up and need a mainland-based embedded electronics engineer who can handle every step of the design and bring-up process. The goal is a compact indoor scanner that excels at obstacle detection and terrain mapping while holding tight, high-accuracy tolerances.

What the work involves
You will take the idea from blank sheet to working board: optical layout, high-speed signal processing, motor/galvo drive, power management, firmware, and a simple USB/TTL data interface that streams polar coordinates for fusion in my existing SLAM stack. Expect heavy use of Altium (or KiCad), STM32/ESP32 class MCUs, precise timing control in C/C++, and low-level debugging with J-Link or OpenOCD. I will handle mechanical housing once you define envelope and mounting points.

Key expectations
• Accuracy and repeatability must match typical 0.1° angular resolution and ≤3 cm range error across a 6 m indoor span.
• Mapping frame rate: ≥10 Hz full sweep.
• Sensor should self-calibrate on power-up and deliver clean packets over UART.
• All design files remain editable; no locked libraries or black-box binaries.

Deliverables
1. Complete schematic, PCB layout, and fabrication files.
2. Bill of materials with China-sourced components in mind.
3. Compiled and source firmware, plus flashing instructions.
4. Lab test report demonstrating accuracy targets met indoors.
5. Short video of the unit performing real-time obstacle detection and terrain mapping.
