Pet Health Tracker Development
Budget: ₹37,500 – ₹75,000 INR
Hiring: Hardware Engineer / Product Designer
Universal Dog Health & GPS Tracker (Prototype → MVP)
Project Overview
We are building a universal dog health monitoring device that works reliably across all dog breeds, including short, medium, and thick/double-coat fur.
The device will be collar-mounted and track:
• GPS location
• Activity & motion
• Body temperature trends
• Heart rate (optical, fur-tolerant design)
This is an end-to-end hardware prototype project, from concept to a working functional prototype.
⸻
Scope of Work
We are looking for a freelancer who can own the full hardware design and guide us through prototype development.
1- Industrial & Mechanical Design
• Design compact enclosure (collar-mounted)
• Universal fur-compatible sensor interface
• Spring-loaded / soft silicone skin contact system
• Comfortable, waterproof, dog-safe housing
• Target size: ~65 × 35 × 18 mm
2- Electronics & PCB Design
• MCU: ESP32 (or equivalent low-power MCU)
• Sensors:
• Optical heart rate (PPG)
• Temperature sensor
• IMU (motion/activity)
• GPS module
• Battery management & charging circuit
• Low-power design
• PCB schematic + layout (Gerber files)
3- Firmware Development
• Sensor integration
• BLE / Wi-Fi communication
• GPS data handling
• Motion filtering
• Power optimization
• Basic calibration logic
4- Prototype Assembly & Testing
• Assist with BOM selection
• Support PCB fabrication & assembly
• Initial testing & debugging
• Validation on different fur types (logic level)
⸻
Deliverables
• Complete PCB schematics & layout files
• BOM with part sourcing suggestions
• Enclosure CAD files (STEP/STL)
• Firmware source code
• Assembled or assembly-ready prototype
• Documentation for next iteration (Rev-B)
⸻
Required Skills
• Embedded systems & hardware design
• PCB design (Altium / KiCad / Eagle)
• ESP32 or similar MCU experience
• Wearable or IoT device experience
• Low-power electronics
• Mechanical + electrical integration
• Experience with sensors & batteries
⸻
Nice to Have (Bonus)
• Experience building pet wearables
• Medical or health sensor experience
• Manufacturing / DFM knowledge
• GPS + BLE product experience
⸻
Project Timeline
• 4–8 weeks for first functional prototype
• Long-term collaboration possible for production version
⸻
What We Already Have
• Clear product vision
• Device dimensions & form factor
• Component ideas (ESP32, GPS, sensors)
• Reference designs & concept visuals
⸻
What We Expect From You
• Technical leadership
• Clear communication
• Honest feasibility feedback
• Prototype-driven approach
⸻
Goal
Build a robust, universal dog health tracker prototype that can evolve into a commercial product.
