PCB Design & BMS Integration Expert Required
Budget: $250 – $750 NZD
We are seeking an experienced electronics engineer to integrate a Battery Management System (BMS) IC—specifically a 3-cell (3S) Li-ion charger IC like the BQ25700A or similar—into our existing PCB design. The current board is built around an ESP32 and controls a range of low-power peripherals. Our goal is to enable safe battery charging and protection using an onboard BMS IC.
Project Scope:
Review existing PCB and schematic files (provided in EasyEDA or exported format).
Select or confirm appropriate BMS IC to:
Charge a 3S Li-ion battery pack (12.6V max),
Support input from a regulated 12V–15V DC source,
Provide battery protection and system power regulation,
Ideally support I²C or SMBus communication.
Modify schematic and PCB layout to integrate the BMS IC.
Power path management,
Input current limiting,
Battery charge/discharge control,
Optional status and control pins to ESP32.
Update BOM and add any required passives, FETs, or protection circuits.
Provide ERC/DRC-clean schematic and layout files.
Deliver manufacturing-ready Gerbers, BoM, and annotated schematic.
Deliverables:
Updated schematic (EasyEDA, KiCAD, or other open-source format preferred).
Modified PCB layout files.
Updated BOM with suggested part numbers (preferably from LCSC or Digi-Key).
Gerber files for fabrication.
Basic test instructions or design notes. Requirements:
Proven experience in BMS and charger IC design (especially for Li-ion).
Experience with ESP32-based systems and mixed power domains.
Familiarity with thermal layout, grounding, and safe battery charging practices.
Clear and timely communication.
