Modify Embedded UBI Firmware
Budget: $3,000 – $5,000 USD
This project involves working on a custom-built device that runs a Linux-based but completely closed (custom) firmware. The device currently has no root access, no terminal access, and no SSH service available. Firmware updates are performed via USB using UBI format, and only specific partitions are updated.
The UBI image can be extracted, the root filesystem (rootfs) can be accessed, and it can be repackaged and flashed back to the device. However, so far it has not been possible to successfully integrate SSH access into the firmware.
This project requires a freelancer with strong experience in firmware reverse engineering and embedded Linux systems.
