Licensed Engineer Servo Control System Design

Job ID: 40133550

Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD

I’m ready to move from concept to production on a Panasonic AC servo-driven machine and need a licensed professional electrical engineer to own the entire control system.

Scope
You will design a custom STM32-based controller board, develop the embedded firmware that drives a Panasonic servo amplifier in closed-loop motion, and validate the complete system on the bench. Real-time performance, industrial-grade reliability, and clean documentation are critical because this project feeds directly into a production line upgrade.

Key Responsibilities
• Schematic capture, PCB layout and BOM generation for the STM32 control board, including safe power-stage isolation and all feedback interfaces (encoder, Hall, fault lines).
• Firmware in C/C++ (STM32CubeMX or your preferred toolchain) implementing position/velocity/torque loops, homing routines and field-bus or pulse/dir communication as required by the Panasonic driver.
• Tuning and integration with the selected servo amplifier, delivering verified motion profiles and safety interlocks.
• Thorough test plan, measurement logs and source files packaged for hand-off.

Acceptance Criteria
1. Board powers and enumerates an STM32, communicates reliably with the Panasonic servo drive, and executes closed-loop motion within ±1 % positional error under load.
2. Firmware is buildable from a clean checkout and passes all bench tests you define.
3. Full design package (schematics, Gerbers, firmware source, bill of materials, test report) is delivered and compiles without warnings.

A current Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory; please reference it in your proposal. If you have prior experience with Panasonic MINAS series drives or similar, highlight that as well.

I’m ready to start as soon as I select the right engineer and will be available for rapid feedback on iterations. Let’s build a rock-solid motion platform together.
