About the Role
We're building out a wireless weighing and monitoring solution from the ground up, and we need a seasoned embedded engineer who can own the technical journey — from early prototype to a validated, field-ready product.
This role sits at the intersection of hardware and software. You won't just be writing firmware in isolation; you'll be shaping system architecture, wiring up hardware, writing and debugging embedded code, and pushing performance across the board.
At a high level, the system pulls weight data from a network of load-cell-equipped sensor nodes spread across multiple locations, processes that data on-device, pushes it over a wireless link, and surfaces it through a cloud-connected platform for remote access.
What You'll Be Doing
Firmware & Embedded Development
Write and maintain firmware targeting STM32 and ESP32 microcontrollers
Connect and manage load cells, ADCs, and a range of sensors/peripherals
Develop calibration routines, signal filtering, diagnostics, and data-integrity checks
Connectivity & Protocols
Build robust LoRa links for communication between distributed field units
Design custom protocols for both node-to-node and node-to-cloud data exchange
Wire up cloud connectivity using MQTT, HTTP, or whichever protocol fits best
Hardware & Systems Work
Support bring-up of new hardware, prototype testing, and end-to-end system integration
Read through and weigh in on schematics, flagging opportunities for hardware improvements
Chase down and fix issues spanning hardware, wireless links, sensors, and power delivery
Push for better reliability, throughput, and power efficiency across the system
Take part in hands-on prototype testing and real-world field trials
What We're Looking For
Must-Haves
Proven, hands-on background in embedded systems engineering
Substantial experience building on STM32 and/or ESP32
Strong command of embedded C/C++
Real experience with LoRa, LoRaWAN, or similar long-range wireless tech
Comfortable working with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and similar embedded interfaces
Able to debug at the hardware level and read schematics fluently
Experience building sensor-driven data acquisition systems
History of shipping embedded products that made it to production
Nice-to-Haves
Familiarity with load cells and weighing tech — HX711, ADS1232, or similar ICs
Experience designing custom PCBs and bringing new boards to life
Exposure to industrial monitoring or automation environments
Background in low-power, battery-driven embedded design
Experience with IoT platforms and remote monitoring infrastructure
A track record of carrying products from early prototype to full production
