Embedded Systems for Consumer Electronics

Job ID: 40563221

Budget: $250 – $750 AUD

I am seeking the following:

We have an existing industrial dispensing machine that we're using as the foundation for our first production prototype. While the mechanical dispensing system largely performs the function we require, we are looking to completely redesign the user interface and control system to create a simple, intuitive commercial product.

Rather than modifying the existing operator controls, we are looking for a company that can assist with designing and integrating an entirely new front-end control system that interfaces with the existing machine.

At this stage we are looking for advice on feasibility, development approach, estimated costs and timelines.

I've attached our current concept documents to provide some context. They should be viewed as discussion documents rather than fixed designs, and we're very open to recommendations on how the system should ultimately be implemented.

The project would ideally include:
· Review of the existing machine electronics and control system.

· Determining whether the existing controller can be retained or whether replacement is recommended.

· Design of a simplified user interface.

· Development of a new control panel.

· Integration with the existing dispensing hardware.

· Integration of an unattended card payment terminal (POS).

· Development of the required control logic and software.

· Prototype assembly, testing and commissioning.

Our intended user workflow is very simple:
1. Place reusable chalk bag beneath the outlet.

2. Select a refill quantity (100 g, 200 g or 300 g).

3. Tap card or mobile device to pay.

4. Payment is authorised.

5. The machine automatically dispenses the selected quantity.

6. Dispensing stops automatically at the target weight.

7. User removes the bag.

The objective is to create a commercial product that is extremely easy for first-time users to operate with minimal instructions.

We understand that the most appropriate technical solution may differ from our current concept, and we are very happy to work collaboratively to determine the best approach.

At this stage we'd appreciate your thoughts on:

· Whether this is the type of project your team undertakes.

· The recommended development process.

· Whether you would undertake electronics, software and payment integration in-house.

· Any information you would require from us before providing an estimate.

· Indicative development costs.

· Prototype timelines.

· Ongoing support and small-batch manufacture if the prototype is successful.

I'd be happy to arrange a call or bring the machine in for inspection if that would be helpful.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
