ESP32 NFC Audio Player PCB
Budget: €250 – €750 EUR
I’m developing a compact, plastic-enclosed educational device that lets students trigger audio lessons simply by tapping NFC tags. The unit is based on an ESP32, a PN532 NFC interface over SPI, an external I2S DAC for audio playback from a microSD card, and a Li-ion battery that can also operate from USB-C power.
Your task is to turn my system concept into a fully checked, two-layer MVP design in KiCad. The design must support a top-side NFC reading zone with a strict keep-out area beneath it, maintain clean separation between RF, audio, and power sections, and fit within a 110 × 110 mm PCB outline intended for a compact enclosure approximately 60 mm high.
The user interface is intentionally simple:
* Play/Pause button
* Volume + button
* Volume - button
* LED ring around the NFC zone for tag-read feedback
I will handle the firmware. What I need is reliable hardware that boots correctly, charges safely, and passes KiCad default DRC/ERC checks without waivers.
Deliverables:
* Complete KiCad project (schematic and PCB)
* Gerber and drill files ready for fabrication
* BOM with manufacturer part numbers
* Pick-and-Place file
* STEP file of the assembled PCB for enclosure fit-check
Acceptance criteria:
* Clean DRC/ERC reports
* NFC keep-out respected, with no components directly underneath the NFC reading area
* Clear separation of RF, audio, and power sections in the layout
* Board outline no larger than 110 × 110 mm
* Layout compatible with integration into a compact child-friendly enclosure
If you have recent experience with ESP32 + PN532 + audio playback hardware, that is a strong plus.
The goal is a robust MVP board suitable for an educational product prototype.
