Digital Fuel Flowmeter System
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I’m upgrading my car with a fuel-flow measurement setup that does more than just show the litres per minute. The plan is to insert a fuel flowmeter in the line, drive a compact digital display on the dash, and have the entire package log data, raise flow-rate alerts and keep historical records I can download later.
Here’s what I already know I want
• Sensor: a reliable in-line fuel flowmeter suitable for gasoline
• Display: small digital screen, clearly legible in daylight
• Features: real-time monitoring, user-settable flow-rate alerts, and onboard storage of historical data (preferably on microSD or similar)
Your role is to design and prototype the complete solution—from selecting the sensor and microcontroller, to writing the firmware, designing the alert logic, and building a clean display interface that runs off the 12 V vehicle supply. A simple enclosure and wiring diagram that lets me mount everything under the dash is also required.
Deliverables
• Bill of materials with part numbers and sources
• Schematic and PCB/stripboard layout
• Embedded code (Arduino, STM32, ESP32 or similar) with build instructions
• Display UI design and source files
• Short test report showing accuracy and response time, plus sample logged data
I’ll handle installation once the prototype arrives, so remote guidance on initial calibration is all that’s needed. Looking forward to seeing how you’d bring this to life.
