Debug USB2514B Hub PCB

Job ID: 40080610

Budget: €30 – €250 EUR

My custom board built around the Microchip USB2514B-AEZC-TR powers up, yet Windows never shows it in Device Manager. Power rails look solid and with the oscilloscope I do see activity on both D+ and D− when the cable is inserted, so basic signalling reaches the connector, but the host still refuses to enumerate.

I’d like a fresh set of eyes on the design to uncover what I missed. I can supply the schematic, layout files and a short capture of the line activity. Your job is to review the reference design versus my implementation, pinpoint the fault—whether that’s a missing strap resistor, incorrect power-on timing, ESD layout, or anything else—and outline a clear fix.

Once I apply your recommendations I expect the hub to enumerate reliably on a standard PC without requiring driver tweaks or external hubs in between. If you’ve solved similar USB251x issues before, especially around reset sequencing or upstream port wiring, you’ll probably spot the mistake quickly.
