Custom PCB Design for Solar-Powered IoT Field Device (Pest Trap Monitoring)
Budget: €200 – €500 EUR
We are building a solar-powered, low-power IoT field device used outdoors in orchards. We need an experienced PCB design engineer to develop a custom PCB that integrates and reliably powers the system.
Scope (PCB only):
1) Schematic + PCB layout for a low-power embedded system
2) Power design: solar charging + battery management, stable rails, protection, brownout handling, and power-path switching
3) Interfaces for MCU + peripherals (camera, GNSS, cellular modem, temp/humidity sensor, RTC/power scheduler)
4) Connector selection, ESD/weather-related protection considerations, test points, and design for manufacturability
Deliverables: production-ready Gerbers, BOM, pick/place, schematic, and design files (KiCad/Altium—your preference)
Nice to have:
Prior experience with solar/battery powered IoT hardware, cellular modems, and rugged outdoor electronics
Please include examples of similar PCB projects (power + IoT) and your recommended approach for ensuring low-power reliability in the field.
