Crypto-Mining Smart Clock Prototype

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I want a working proof-of-concept clock that does much more than tell the time. The device will be built on custom hardware, drive an OLED display, and continuously mine Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin in the background.

Two screen modes are required:
• Clock mode – shows a clean, legible digital time display.
• Crypto mode – fetches the current Bitcoin price via a live API and reveals a QR code linked to my Cash App wallet.

Access to the QR code must be gated by a fingerprint reader. During initial setup I’ll enrol my print; later, when I touch the sensor, the device instantly switches to Crypto mode and shows the code. A button-press (or another touch) returns to Clock mode.

Core expectations
– Design the full electronics stack: mining chips or modules, Wi-Fi, fingerprint sensor, power regulation and OLED driver.
– Write all low-level firmware: continuous mining for BTC, ETH, LTC; secure fingerprint matching; REST call for price feed; on-screen graphics and mode switching.
– Provide STL or CAD for a compact desktop enclosure with proper thermals.
– Supply complete build docs: schematics, BOM, flashed binaries, and step-by-step assembly instructions so I can reproduce the prototype locally.

Acceptance criteria
1. Device powers up, auto-connects to Wi-Fi and starts mining.
2. Time display updates accurately every second.
3. Fingerprint unlock shows live Bitcoin price and correct Cash App QR code within two seconds.
4. Mining hash rates and temperatures are logged and viewable over SSH.
