Android Vendor Partition Reconfig for External Camera
Budget: $300 – $600 USD
PROJECT GOAL
Rebuild the vendor partition so the system recognizes a UVC external camera as the only camera device, replacing all internal sensors at the HAL/provider level.
The solution must work natively with Camera2 / CameraX and be compatible with Android 15 on crDroid 15.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS (this filters amateurs automáticamente)
1. Camera Provider / HAL Reconfiguration
Adjust the camera provider implementation (camera.provider@2.x) so that:
Only two logical camera IDs are exposed:
ID 0 → BACK (external)
ID 1 → FRONT (external)
Both IDs must map to the same external UVC source (/dev/video*).
2. Remove Internal Camera Exposure
Internal physical cameras must be fully excluded at provider level.
They must NOT appear in:
adb shell dumpsys media.camera
Camera2 API
CameraX API
Any system/app enumeration
3. External Camera Configuration
Modify or replace:
external_camera_config.xml
Vendor overlays related to camera
Provider service .rc entries under:
/vendor/etc/init/
Any additional vendor-level configuration required
4. Strict Compatibility
The result must be fully compatible with:
crDroidAndroid-15.0-20250719-guacamoleb-v11.7
Snapdragon 855 ISP pipeline
Android 15 camera provider (HIDL/AIDL transitional layer)
5. Deliverable
Flash-ready vendor.img
OR

ACCEPTANCE CHECKS
Payment will be released only after I verify:
adb shell dumpsys media.camera
shows only ID 0 and ID 1, both pointing to the UVC device.
Internal camera sensors do not appear anywhere in HAL/provider output.
Apps such as Camera, Instagram, Zoom, WhatsApp open the external camera automatically for video/streaming.
