We seek a professional, seasoned RFID SME to help design/build an embedded RFID reader for UHF 860-960 MHz frequency range.
It must be software defined and provide active digital support for it and peripherals.
The output power, frequency & all other parameters should be software adjustable & saving of last data. Default factory settings set option.
Applicable ISO standards like EPC global UHF RFID Class 1 Gen2/ISO 18000-63/6C. Full LLRP support. USA FCC Part 15 compliance is needed.
ERP, EIRP power output compliance to international standards is needed.
This may be always-on at times for wide area monitoring of RFID tags precise locations, per requirements given here.
Should support OTA updates, embedded web server(testing, configuring & diagnostics). Remote diagnostics & config loads/uploads.
If some 3rd party tools are used at runtime, our pre-approval, source codes and unlimited licenses be included, meeting our requirements given here. Please include some time to refine the scope.
We shall expect a professional complete solution with reasonable expectations of a complete system including HW, SW, FW.
As an option, 128 byte secure key encryption will be provided between tag and the reader. contact us if you need help.
Product serialization for future version control & support.
NDA will need to be signed - ensuring IP to be transferred to us and no use by freelancer of this solution anywhere.

SW to simulate output and input for testing the system you will design.

An internal (to the reader enclosure) PCB antenna, separate from this reader is needed. This PCB will be mountable in front of reader. Specify the specs for it.
Its use will be selectable for the external antenna, Mux & advanced digital antenna.
Provide 2 POC units for testing. 1 will be shipped to us for testing.
Optional we also need you to design a non-abrasive, aesthetic 3D printable RF friendly enclosure with mounts for Vesa or pole, connecting to external systems.
Enclosed sketch provides a more detailed HW sketch & peripheral supports needed. The green dotted line is out of scope.
External Power supply range 1.5VDC-24VDC, connect via wiring terminals or a female plugin jack.

1. Please specify the RFID chip for reader you intend to use & why.
2. Please list the features you will provide over and above typical features available in other competing products.
3. Please share past RFID reader development (not just use) project details done by you, related info with us?
4. Which RFID chips were used in past jobs? Submit specs of the unit you feel is closest to our need or best in your opinion.
5. How long ago was the last reader job done/developed? How many users using it? What antenna was used? Any ideas to improve your solution?
6. We are in RFID business deeply for several years. Please let us know if you need us to provide some sample RFID tags for your testing, else we assume you will get them. Though they are available at very inexpensive price everywhere.
7. Suggest ways to improve/optimize the RFID passive tag's relative location x,y,z co-ordinates results.
8. Any questions you have that we may have failed to address here.
9. What all editors will be used?
10. Confirm All the IP rights, editable form of designs, drawings, supporting docs, source codes, professional user, installation manuals and any other related materials will be submitted to us, before any payment request.
