Save my gmail emails to my Apple Mail - Version 12.4 (3445.104.21)

I need to move emails saved from my gmail email accounts to folders in my Apple Mail. There will be 4 gmail mailboxes and all emails from them need to be saved onto my laptop so I can close these gmail emails down and create an alias in another gmail address.
