voltage regulator for automotive headlights.

Would someone please help me. I have a Mazda 6 which blows out headlights monthly. This is a well known problem and there are many people on automotive forums that have discussed this. There is even a petition for a recall but Mazda has not responded. I am trying to remedy the problem myself. Firstly I have installed new connectors to make sure the connections are solid. What I am asking for here is if someone can design a simple circuit, I am thinking using zener diodes, to put a voltage regulator on each headlight. I have almost no electronics experience but I can follow clear instructions. Can someone please design a circuit for me or point me towards a device that will regulate the power going to my headlights so that it does not spike above 14 volts. I have spent over five hours on the internet trying to find this myself and I am exhausted and without an answer. A simple diagram/schematic with a list of the required components is what I am asking for. Thank you.
