node-RED & MQTT expert required to setup simulator
Budget: $2 – $15 USD
I am looking for a skilled node-RED expert to prepare a simulator to run simulated scenarios on local machines.
Target of the simulator is to be able to verify ideas. We will mostly work with RPI and ESP32 based devices.
So we would like to modify senor parameters and based on them to see what the simulator will do with the actors.
Your skills are:
- experiences with ESP32 (8266) based devices
- integration of ZigBee or similar other radio based devices
- implementation of high automations in smart home (e.g. presence detection based on common user devices like smartphones)
- you have experiences with MCU firmware like esphome
your proofs:
- record a video of your already running simulator. Ensure you show some basic sensor/actor simulator along with a complex one.
Ideal skills and experience:
- Extensive knowledge and experience with node-RED
- Strong programming skills
- Familiarity with integrating node-RED with other platforms
- Ability to troubleshoot and fix bugs efficiently
Why the simulator?
- the persons, who will later test your work, are typically not engineers. They have a good understanding of simulating or entering sensor values.
- based on this sensor values, the actors shall trigger and display on the UI. E.g. if you have simulated PIR, the persons shall activate a PIR detection duration and amout. So they can identify how sensitive the PIR requires to be.
- if you assume a ARP-based presence detection, the users, shall be able to trigger a "smartphone" wifi logon
- if the presence is detected, the corresponding actor shall be triggered and be visualized to the end user.
Timeline:
- this is for now a setup project of the simulator for our premise. Based on the pace and quality of delivery we will like to integrate you into the process of implementing our ideas in a simulator.
Frequency of assistance:
- Assistance will be needed on an as-needed basis
If you are a node-RED expert with the necessary skills and experience, please reach out to discuss further details and project requirements.
The milestones you bid on now:
MS1:
- provide a full doc on how to setup a simulator for node-RED. Preferably linux based and with web-UI so all persons could try out
- provide full install on a server, which we will provide to you
- implement a simple scenario: switch on light and powerplug based on presences
......- 1x PIR sensor (MQTT)
......- 1x ARP-based presence detector (smartphone, PC, laptop)
......- switch on/off a light and a power plug (both MQTT based)
MS2:
- Extend the above scenario as HVAC controller
......- 1x PIR sensor (MQTT)
......- 1x ARP-based presence detector (smartphone, PC, laptop)
......- 1x temperature sensor (smartphone, PC, laptop)
......- switch on/off the power plug (both MQTT based) (assume the HVAC can only do on or off)
......- ensure hysteresis to avoid failure of corresponding hardware
Payment?
- you estimate in a WBS (optimistic, expected, pessimistic, where optimistic < expected < pessimistic) after getting the task
- we discuss about clearances and effort
- we mutually agree to effort
- we assign you the task after mutually agreed
- you implement, test and deliver
- you provide also unit /integration tests to ensure code is always working
- you document each required step to make interaction of systems to work
- we test on our premise (you maybe help to fix issues)
- we pay
(basically the rules of freelancer)
Closed book vs open book?
We work only on open book.
Closed book means you are unwilling to define a WBS for the work and you add only a price tag to the task.
We are sorry we will not hire you in such a case!
Deliveries?
- in our on premise git (access will be granted to you)
- full sources
- mutliple samples of body and responses of the api in test/resources which will be used as unit tests
- maven
- your code passes our CI build (with provided maven pom.xml can be checked)
- libs, need prior confirm and we prefer to use mostly latest stable versions
- named requirements are mandatory. Changes may be required, but you have to get a prior clearance with us, why and how to change. We will not accept changes, which have not been clarified with us before.
- JDK 17 (mostly LTS)
- your api access code working on our end
- you may require to help us here on setup
- used libs and apis are on latest stable version
- docker compose setup & readme to run locally on your machine and (we will use it on CI/CD, if you are able to handle we place you an addition milestone for it)
- we require, depending on availability and on complexity 2-4 weeks test time per milestone. Usually clearly less
