Power supply circuit design for computer
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I want to make a power supply for desktop computers powered by a toroidal 50/60Hz transformer. smps transformer driven at high frequencies will not be used. A toroidal transformer operating at 1000VA output power with 96% efficiency will be used. After the 220V input part, there is a fuse, varistor, NTC resistor protective circuit stage. There will be an EMI filter on the next floor. Then it will be connected to the primary winding of the toroidal transformer. number of primary and secondary windings and cable diameters should be calculated for 1000VA. The transformer will be protected with a thermistor to be attached to the toroidal transformer and added to the circuit. After the secondary windings, a full bridge rectifier should be applied separately for each winding and the following output voltages should be obtained: 1st output +12VDC1 28A ; 2nd output +12VDC2 28A; 3. output +3.3VDC 32A; 4. output +5VDC 28A; 5. output -12VDC 0.53A; The fan should have +12VDC 0.85A output. Since the voltages coming out from here will be irregular, voltage outputs should be fixed by giving a voltage regulator for each output. The 5 volt output also feeds the optocoupler and triggers a circuit element that will cut the transformer's power in case of failures where no 5v output is received. Thus, when the output voltage is not received, the input voltage 220V is cut off. There is also +5VDC 2.5A Standby voltage in the circuit. This voltage depends on the motherboard. Turns off power to the power supply when the computer is off or in sleep mode. When it is started, it activates the power to the power supply and makes the computer work. In the 24-pin connector for the motherboard, connector leg 9 is purple wired, this is +5VSB. This circuit stage will also be added to the circuit diagram. Pin 20 with white wire will not be used, it will remain empty. The Power Good function, which is pin 8 that comes with a gray cable, will be used. It determines that the computer will not work if the output voltage is not suitable. A kind of voltage follower layer will be added to the circuit for this pin. PS-ON power start, pin 16, which comes with a green cable, will be used. Also, some motherboards work when pin 16 is turned off with ground. some of them start when a resistance is applied to the 5 v channel and when pin 16 is closed with ground. For both these cases, the appropriate circuit stage must be added to the circuit. There will be all circuit stages on an smps power supply circuit. but pwm oscillator, high frequency transformer, schottky diodes will not be used. There will also be a fan speed control floor in the circuit. Briefly, a computer power supply fed with a normal 50-60Hz transformer will be designed. This power supply will power the next generation motherboards. It will be a non-smps power supply. I will not be able to draw the circuit diagram because my electronic knowledge is not sufficient. but in the circuit diagram on this page, you can determine this circuit as your starting point by using the other circuit stages except for the smps part. :

I want you to create a working circuit. The circuit elements you will use should be easily available in the market. You must specify the details in the circuit. you should specify how many microfarats the capacitor or the regulator code. You should also test the circuit for all its functions in a computer simulation. Submit it when you're sure it works.
