LED Circuit and PCB Design
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I'm looking for qualified electronics professionals to help design a LED controller that will be capable of powering and running 20,000+ LEDs, support multiple sensors (Bluetooth, BLE, PIR, temperature, humidity, contact, ambient light, report current, voltage draws, etc.)
I come from an engineering background myself, however I am not an electronics engineer. I come from mechanical and computer science backgrounds. The board I would like to design is for powering LED strips all around my house. This is for a hobby and to prove a point to myself. I have already built the prototype using breadboards. However, it is far from what I would like because of the issues of using breadboards.
I can put together the entire schema on a paper and have wired it up on a breadboard. I would now like to migrate this design to a box that I can mount on the wall with all the components inside the box. In the box would be all the wires to the various LEDs and sensors, the power supply (5 volts), the LED controller we are building, the display and fans for cooling.
As you can tell, to run these many LEDs (even at a low power) will require a lot of energy. As a result I would like to build this system that handle this much power and scale up as needed. I would like to make sure we build the power handling system separately, so that it is separated from the micro-controller and sensors. Obviously, we will need to have fuses, resistors, etc. More details later.
Given the volume of LEDs, an understanding of how to effectively manage power is essential. Expertise in circuit design, signal processing, and communication are required, alongside a keen understanding of printed circuit board (PCB) design.
Required Skills:
- Familiarity with LED types and the power requirements.
- Proficiency in PCB design and prototyping.
- Experience in electronics circuit design and signal processing.
Your role will involve designing electronics systems and converting them into a PCB, and you should be experienced in this type of work.
