External Baby Diaper Detector Using VOC Sensor + LED Alert

Job ID: 39376144

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

We are seeking an electronics developer to create a simple, safe, and low-cost prototype of an external device that can detect feces in a baby diaper by identifying VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and trigger a visual LED indicator (e.g., red for poop, green for clean).

This device must be non-contact, battery-powered, and safe for use around infants.

Key Features:
External only – the device should not touch the baby or the diaper.

VOC detection – using a sensor like MQ135 or similar.

LED alert system – simple red/green indication.

Battery-powered – USB rechargeable or replaceable battery.

Compact and safe design – must be comfortable to use near a baby.

Optional (if feasible): vibration or soft audio alert.

Deliverables:
Functional prototype (breadboard or final casing – flexible).

Complete circuit schematic + wiring instructions.

List of components (Bill of Materials).

Basic enclosure design (3D printable preferred, not required).

Documentation on usage and charging.

Project Goals:
Build a working MVP (Minimum Viable Product).

Ensure detection accuracy specifically for poop (not just general odors).

Prioritize baby safety and simplicity.

Budget & Timeline:
Budget: Please provide your best estimate – we’re looking for a budget-friendly solution.

Timeline: Delivery of prototype within 3–4 weeks preferred.

Skills Required:
Experience with gas/VOC sensors

Arduino or similar microcontroller experience

Hardware prototyping

(Optional) Enclosure or product design
