ESP32C6 Board Prototype Development
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Project Overview:
The goal is to design a device with a target cost of less than Rs 1000, maintaining the form factor of a current transformer (clamp-on type) to ensure ease of installation. Below are the key specifications and requirements for the device:
Device Power:
Energy Harvesting: The device will be powered by energy harvesting from the secondary CT current. We are considering circuits such as the Texas Instruments reference design TIDA-01385.
CT Specification:
Current: Supports installation in the range of 20-100A.
Phase: Designed for single-phase connections, common in most Indian residences.
Voltage: Supports the normal Indian voltage range of 230V.
Line Frequency: Supports the normal Indian frequency range of 50Hz.
Mechanical Design:
Size: The device should be as small as possible, with minimal addition to the CT size. An appropriate enclosure will be designed.
Antenna: A network antenna may be required to ensure sufficient reception, especially if installed inside a metal distribution box. The antenna should be connected to the sensor by a cable and installed away from frequency regulation equipment.
Measured Parameters:
Current: Measures current in the range of 20-100A.
Voltage: Optionally measures line voltage in the range of 230V if possible with a clamp-on.
Active Power: Optionally measures active power in kW if possible with a clamp-on.
Active Energy: Optionally measures active energy in kWh if possible with a clamp-on.
Measurement Frequency:
Data Transmission: Data will be sent to the cloud at a selectable frequency from once per second to once every 15 minutes to balance power and bandwidth usage.
Network Connectivity:
WiFi Station Mode: The device will connect to the household WiFi hotspot.
WiFi Hotspot Mode: The device will have an in-built hotspot for initial setup, allowing users to connect to a webserver to input/change the household hotspot name/password.
Standalone Product: The device will connect directly to the household WiFi and transmit data to our cloud, without requiring a data aggregator unit or WiFi bridge.
Data Cache:
No Storage: A basic model will have no storage to reduce cost.
SDCard (Optional): An optional SDCard can be used to cache data when network connectivity is lost and store configurations, software updates, etc.
Our main expectation from you is to create a circuit that can power the ESP32 C6 board through energy harvesting from the CT clamp. We will handle the firmware development; we just need a functional prototype created. If you're interested, let’s discuss how we can work together. Thanks!
The budget and timelines can be discussed further later once we have a quotation from you on this.
