Drone Programming for Autonomous Rural Missions
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
We need a skilled drone programmer with experience in designing for rural, autonomous missions. The drone should be capable of:
- Obstacle Avoidance: The ability to navigate around physical barriers without human intervention is crucial for the safety and efficiency of these missions.
- Return to Home: This is a key feature that ensures the drone can safely return to its starting point after completing its tasks.
- Path Planning: The drone must be capable of efficiently and effectively planning its own route to its destination.
A comprehensive understanding of drone programming is essential for this project. PIxhawk controller experience necessary. The drone will use a Pixhawk controller and take outside commands from an external microcontroller, a semi-custom RC transmitter, and a typical RC transmitter.
The first job will be to get a custom drone flying simple missions. We'll add projects to complete the design from there. Funds are available for ongoing work as we make progress. We expect this design to take >1 yr to get to basic functionality, and another 1-2 yrs to reach maturity.
Basic microcontroller programming experience is a huge plus. Various sensors will need to be read and action taken based on sensor readings.
Flexibility and creativity will be needed - this is not your average drone. A non-disclosure agreement will be needed for a full description. Someone completing this project with us will be able to point to their creation in national magazines and FAA letters. A small amount of (paid) travel may be required.
