Automate a scissor lift mechanism

Job ID: 32776365

Budget: £20 – £250 GBP

I am a furniture maker and I am currently building a wooden drinks cabinet. The cabinet is 450mm tall (low coffee table height) and I want to have a lift mechanism that will raise and lower a drinks shelf. There is not much room to allow for linear actuators, so I have sourced a mechanical scissor lift which goes from 95mm (fully closed) to 370mm (fully open). The lift is designed to lift motorcycles so it is very strong, but it is operated manually. It has a hex nut which drives a threaded bar. Using a socket and wrench, the operator can manually lift and raise the scissor lift.

I am looking for someone to help me automate this lift process. I want the operation to be silent (no high pitched sound of electric motors). I want to control the speed and distance of the lift and for the lift to slow at the top and bottom. The lift process should be activated by the press of two buttons (one for up and one for down). a single press of each button should activate the full lift process.

Any design much include how to power the electronics, any gearing requirements, the motor, the process controller, how to connect the hex bolt on the scissor lift with the electric motor...

The design process must include diagrams, component parts and a detailed scope. I would also require additional support when I begin putting the design together during prototyping.

I welcome proposals for undertaking this project and it would be helpful if you could demonstrate any previous experience in automating similar mechanical operations.

Lastly, please keep in mind that the furniture I make is of a very high quality. Any electronic solution proposed must use high quality components. They must be silent in operation, smooth, robust and long lasting. My furniture is built to last for many decades and the electronic components must be durable and reliable.

I have attached copies of the scissor lift and of the type of wooden cabinet I am looking to build. You will see how small the cabinet is and how important it is that all the electronics are maintained at the bottom along with the scissor lift, not to exceed the height of 95mm. The overall dimensions of the cabinet are 750mm long x 500mm wide x 450mm high.
