Direct Current Transmission.
Towards a carbon-neutral power system, off-shore wind energy becoming a global interest. High Voltage Direct Current Transmission is an attractive option to manage the bulk offshore transmission from windfarms to onshore AC grid. An unprecedented number of HVDC projects are being planned to interconnect the transmission network of Great Britain to off-shore wind- farm and other countries. Most of them are based on Voltage Source Converter (VSC). You are now carrying out a feasibility study in principle. Analysis will be carried out on the integration of a large-scale VSC into an AC transmission system.
A benchmark AC transmission system is shown in Fig. 1. Bus A is an infinite bus whereas Bus B is representing a load centre. Bus C is located between Buses A and B, connecting to light load. The specifications of the network are listed in Table I.
