Laser-radar, Lidar for a autonomous shuttle

Job ID: 32773989

Budget: $5 – $15 USD

Hi,

I have hobby project where i want to build an autonomous shuttles but I need help to figure out a smart and low-cost lidar or similar solution for collation avoidance.

The shuttles are traveling fast (3 meters/sec) so the solution needs to react fast to keep a constant distans between the shuttles like a train with as little "rubber band effect" as possible.

Can one make a lidar solution that narrows its "felid of vision" while the shuttle is traveling straight on a track, and videns it when it passes an intersection, see picture. The reason for the narrowing is that it will be other moving items on both side of the track. Perhaps on solution would be that the system can identify the shuttles and tell them apart from other objects.

Another idea i have it to place a simple laser sensor on a model servo and pivot it in the angles needed, but i'm afraid it will not be fast and precise enough and that the mechanics in the servo will wear out fast.

Let me know if you have a simple but fast low cost solution that you have worked on before and think it could work for us and if you could design the electronic, program and build a prototype. I am on a tight budget so high priced people don't need to apply.

Don't just answer "Hi, i can do this for you" Let me know why you are the best candidate for this task.

Best Regards,
Peter
