executive summary
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
Our vision is to ease the transition from fossil fuel to alternative technologies in the trucking industry. We will develop semi-trailer electrification for multiple purposes; propulsion, battery regeneration and kinetic braking with the goal of decreasing fossil fuel usage and reducing the carbon footprint. Our system will save diesel driven trucks up to 48% in fuel usage. With a electric refrigerated trailer, the refrigeration unit will run 24/7 with our kinetic power and battery system.
Product Strategy
For mature industries such as trucking, change will take time for development and for new technology implementation. Currently there are over 3 million diesel trucks in our target sectors: refrigerated and dry van. Our first generation electrified trailer system will be primarily geared towards the ICE tractor. With our expandable electric system, our first generation trailer will work as a hybrid type system that will push the tractor up hills and generate electricity by way of kinetic braking on downhills. At the same time, the electrified system will also run the TRU.
1. Refrigerated trailer – focus on saving fuel for the tractor while running a 100% electric TRU
2. Dry Van – focus on saving fuel for the tractor while using a smaller battery
Our second generation models will work as secondary electrification for the truck/trailer battery systems. The integration of telematics within the system and CAN Bus intercommunications within the system will both also be accelerated. This will allow the system to integrate with a BEV or Hydrogen tractor in future development
Product Tactics
Every critical part of our product design is an individually proven product within its specific scope of design. For this reason, we will be able to quickly develop the first generation complete trailer electrification and have it ready for road testing and application testing.
With our system’s computer integrated automatic set points, use of the system for the truck driver/end user is simplified. Blue tooth manual adjustment controller for fine tuning of the kinetic braking system and system diagnostics will also be available to the user.
Latest discovery’s – Nexxiot is a company that has developed Kingpin sensor technology. I believe this will work with our CAN designs. The sensor tells you when the kingpin is latched and stays latched. It was developed for the trailer piggyback system. I believe this may be the technology that integrates so we do not have to redevelop the technology. This should also integrate with the Glid system. It integrates with the trailer system which avoids a step and keeps everything on the trailer. The trailer and the Glid system can communicate with each other.
