Residential Solar Wiring Design
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
This project revolves around the design and planning phase of a residential rooftop solar installation, with a sharp focus on the electrical wiring. I already have the target system size and roof layout; what I’m missing is a code-compliant, homeowner-ready wiring package that ties all the pieces together.
Scope
You will translate my preliminary layout into a full electrical design, covering conductor sizing, over-current protection, grounding, and interconnection to the main service panel. Everything must align with the latest NEC and local utility requirements, ready for permit submission.
Key Deliverables
• Single-line and three-line diagrams (PDF + editable CAD)
• Conduit and conductor sizing calculations with references to NEC articles
• Wiring schedule & labeling plan for rooftop, combiner, inverter, and AC disconnects
• Bill of materials with part numbers and quantities
• Concise design memo summarizing assumptions, load calculations, and safety margins
Acceptance
I’ll consider the job complete once the documents pass a cursory review by my local AHJ or when you address any comments that arise. line drawings, and any calculation sheets you normally use—feel free to include them.
If this matches your expertise in residential solar electrical engineering, I’m ready to move forward immediately.
