Residential Installation of Type 2 EV Charger
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
I live in an apartment building in MIranda NSW, with undercover garage car spaces. I want to install my own individual EV charger in my car space, that would be connected to my own meter so that it is billed to me individually and not to the common property of the building. I have submitted several quotes to the strata committee, from EV charger installation companies, but, since there are no current EV chargers in the building, and I would be the first, the committee are making it difficult for me to achieve. They insist that I have a report from a qualified electrical engineer who has indemnity insurance. A report from the electrician of the EV charging company, will not suffice. Additionally, they also require a fire safety report. Please see the committee's correspondence, copied below:
'The Committee are requesting the below from you ;
The Owner needs an independent electrical engineer consultant with both Professional Indemnity insurance and Public Liability insurance certify that her apartment power board can accommodate the necessary basement charging station load with no negative impact on her apartment nor common property.
A letter from a fire maintenance company advising the same as above.'
The committee will review this once received.
