Handheld Laser Engraver/Cutter

I'm looking to create a handheld laser engraver/cutter. I have the laser and (I believe) the proper battery to support it. I'm looking for an electrical engineer to help me figure out if the components I've selected will work, and what wires/connectors I will need for everything to work.
