Explain wiring diagram for me

I am looking for someone to provide me with a basic overview of an automotive wiring diagram. As this is for personal use, I don't need an in-depth analysis - just a general understanding of the diagram. The ideal candidate will have experience working with automotive wiring diagrams and be able to explain the diagram in an easy-to-understand manner. Knowledge of electrical and electronics wiring diagrams is also a plus.
