Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 CAD

I’m building a consumer-grade entertainment device whose flagship feature is smooth, responsive gaming support. I need an embedded systems engineer who can take the idea from concept to working prototype, covering hardware selection, board design, firmware, and performance tuning so the final unit feels console-class in a much smaller, cost-effective form factor.

Core requirements
• Craft the hardware architecture around an SoC or high-performance MCU that delivers reliable gaming performance without exceeding a 5 W power envelope.
• Produce schematics, BOM, and a production-ready multi-layer PCB.
• Write and optimise the firmware or RTOS layer that boots quickly, handles user input, and drives audio/video output at 60 fps or better.
• Build in easy hooks for debugging and future expansion; video playback and internet connectivity may be added later, so headroom for those is a plus.
• Supply thorough documentation and test code so I can replicate results on my bench.

Acceptance criteria
• Reference game demo runs at ≥60 fps on target hardware.
• All source files, PCB design files, and build instructions are delivered in editable format.
• Device operates within the stated power limits during continuous gameplay.
