Electrical -- 6
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
Plot the reflectivity fields from nine elevation angles (01.40,02.40o, 03.10o, 04.0o, 05.0o, 06.40o, 08.00o, 10.00o, 20.00o). Nine files are used to save the reflectivity fields.
Thee WSR-88D radar data is used in this assignment. Each file is a “struct” type data file. After you load one file (for example: Data_Ele_01.40), you will get a file name “Data”, and there are three data sets under each file (Azimuth, Range Resolution, and Ref). The “Ref” is a matrix (1832 by 720) for this example, which is the reflectivity field. The “Azimuth” is the azimuth angle, which is a 1 by 720 vector, and the Range Resolution is a scalar (250 for this example).
Now, you need to plot the reflectivity fields from all 9 different elevation angles. The field from 01.40 degree is shown as below for you reference.
Note:
1.) If you plan to use Matlab plot, please refer to command “pcolor”. (e.g., pcolor(XX, YY, Ref) )
2.) The data is saved in polar coordination, and you need to covert them into Cartesian coordinate in the “pcolor” plot. (e.g., XX and YY are the Cartesian coordinate).
3.) With the elevation angle increase, the image domain becomes smaller. Think about why?
4.) This is an individual project. So please write your code and turn in an individual report.
5.) Code and figures are required in the report. A short discussion to answer 3.) is needed. (few short sentences should be fine).
6.) Any other languages are welcome.
