Virtual Teacher Assistant for Kindy/Pre Primary

Job ID: 39375738

Budget: $2 – $8 AUD

I am a teacher working in a remote Aboriginal community school, teaching Kindergarten and Pre-Primary. I am seeking an online teacher assistant to support me in various aspects of planning and resource development. The class size is small—typically between 4 to 10 students—but attendance can vary, and students often arrive at different times throughout the day.

It’s important to understand that remote schools operate differently from metropolitan schools. Students often require intervention and catch-up work, and flexibility is essential as new students may join at any time. You’ll be assisting in creating responsive, adaptable plans to meet these unique challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
• Planning and Lesson Development: Collaborate on weekly and daily lesson plans aligned with the Australian curriculum (you will be directed to specific curriculum links).
• Resource Creation: Design and create printable resources, worksheets, visual aids, and hands-on activities suited for young learners (fine motor skills development is key at this level).
• Assessment and Tracking:
• Develop assessment planners and systems for tracking student progress.
• Use task management tools to monitor tasks and maintain online folders for student records.
• Make recommendations for interventions by analyzing student progress and suggesting targeted small group instruction based on assessment data.
• Research & Creativity:
• Source high-quality, engaging online content (videos, interactive resources) that is curriculum-aligned.
• Be creative and resourceful in building materials, using tools like Canva or similar platforms, incorporating clip art and child-friendly visuals.
• Support in Resource Procurement: While you won’t be physically present, you may assist in sourcing physical materials which I can then order for the classroom.

Work Environment & Support:
• You’ll be supporting a small class environment with 1–2 education assistants in the room. This allows for splitting students into smaller groups based on their needs.
• Planning always includes differentiated activities for varying ability levels.
• Explicit instruction programs are in place and will guide much of the planning.

What I’m Looking For:
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic classroom environment where things change frequently.
• Creativity and resourcefulness in designing engaging materials.
• Proficiency in English and strong written communication skills.
• Experience with online platforms for task management and resource development.
• Reliable availability (not full-time, but must be consistent and dependable).
• Good research skills to align plans and resources with the curriculum.
• A genuine interest in early childhood education and understanding of the learning needs of Kindy and Pre-Primary students.

Application Requirement:

In your proposal, please be specific in addressing how you meet the requirements listed above. I will only consider applications that directly respond to the brief. Generic or copy-paste responses will not be reviewed.
