Proofread/Edit Audio Drama Scripts (US English)
Budget: ₹12,500 – ₹37,500 INR
Headfone (https://onelink.to/8s9utp) is India’s largest audio storytelling platform where users can listen to content across multiple categories – Stories, Comedy, etc. Headfone also hosts a wide range of original audio dramas written and produced in collaboration with Headfone's community of Writers, Voice-Actors, and Sound Engineers.
We're looking for Script Editors to work on the American English versions of our audio dramas. The editor will be responsible for proofreading and rewriting as required scripts of our audio dramas from Indian English, to a format that would appeal to an American audience. This would include colloquialisms, cultural references as well as grammar. For this reason, candidates who are native to USA would be preferred.
This is a part-time, remote work opportunity.
What we're looking for in a candidate:
- A strong command of American English.
- Willing to take feedback and a motivated self-learner.
- The bandwidth to work on 1-2 scripts daily (~3000 words)
- Original Fiction/Script writing skills would be a good add-on.
As a pre-screening process, please rewrite the following passages in American English:
1.
What might be amusing for someone, can become really troublesome for others. Just take what had occurred on our Himachal bound train for example. Dev's senseless decision to get off on a deserted station, just for his delight, had landed all our other passengers in a very weird situation.
After burning Dev's eyes as well as his pride, Leela ji was possibly taking the most peaceful nap of her life. But unlike her, Dev was very restless, constantly tossing and turning. There was something that was really bugging him. On the other hand, Rohan and Maya were busy amongst themselves.
2.
"Rohan!! Rohan!! Have you seen my watch?(irritated)...ughhh (sound of drawers opening)"
"Maya.... Maya... Your watch is on the bed and your neclace is on the dining table, alright?"
"Aww baby! You are my saviour! I think, I should really marry you now!"
"Hey! you gotta speak softly! If anyone here gets even a hint that we are in a live-in relationship, they are gonna kick us...(Maya cuts Rohan)"
"oof! just shushh...(pause)"
"okay stop right there. Cause if you come any closer, we are definitely gonna miss our train."
"(laughs) oh you!(romantically) Fine! I wont! But just remember this, a lot of guys chase after this perfect piece of art."
"oh yeah? well any piece of art is incomplete without its artist. And I am YOUR aritst, the one and only!"
"oooh!(surprised) Stop it now or you're gonna start something..(flirty) By the way, Thanks a lot!"
"thanks? What for?"
"For making us late, what else?!(irritated) We are almost 10 mins late!!"
"Oof! You are the one indulging in this flirty talk and now all the blame is on me huh?"
"uggh! lets go now!"
Note: Please feel free to rename characters/locations as well as rewrite the whole passage. Well-written prose where the story doesn't deviate too far from the original is desirable. Applicants who do not submit the pre-screening assignment will be rejected.
