Help putting together a story into a more readable story. Editing and more engaging.

I have been writing my life story about narcissistic relationships and breaking the cycle of abuse. I have a number of chapters relating to different men and what has happened - each story is the same behavioural traits associated with real life version of events. Starting from the age of 13 all the way up to now (aged 35) which will be the closing chapter. I have written in detail about what happened I just need it to read more consistent and engage the readers attention by using more elaborate describing words.
