About the Project: Producing a family documentary that aims to capture the essence of our family’s history, traditions, stories and genealogy. This project will involve interviewing family members, capturing day-to-day life, and compiling historical footage and photos.
Job Description: We are seeking a talented and experienced documentary Videographer/Interviewer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in storytelling, cinematography, interviewing and editing. Responsible for planning, shooting, and editing the documentary to create a compelling narrative that resonates with the family. This project involves interviewing approximately 32 family members (individually and/or group settings) about the family history, stories, and genealogy. The work will take place in various locations across Kansas, including homes and ranches.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the family to understand the vision and objectives of the documentary.
- Develop a detailed project plan, including timelines and milestones.
- Conduct interviews with family members and gather historical footage and photos.
- Film day-to-day activities and special events as directed.
- Edit footage to create a cohesive and engaging documentary.
- Incorporate music, voiceovers, and other elements to enhance the storytelling.
- Manage project budget and ensure timely delivery of the final product.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in documentary filmmaking, with a strong portfolio of previous work.
- Proficiency in using professional camera equipment and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
- Excellent storytelling and interviewing skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with people of all ages.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple aspects of the project.
- Flexibility to travel as needed for filming.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in family-oriented or personal documentaries.
- Background in historical research or archival work.
