Job ID: 36536296

Budget: £250 – £750 GBP

The Daily Dot’s tech and politics (Debug) team is seeking a freelance writer/editor to spearhead its Friday-Sunday coverage of the lead stories in the digital world.

As our weekend editor, you will be responsible for generating story ideas and writing and publishing articles independently. The role is expected to expand into bringing aboard freelancers to manage and edit, but primarily will focus on writing for at least the first few months.

You will work closely with the senior editor to develop a weekend content strategy that engages our audience and keeps readers informed.

This position is a 15-20-hour-per-week freelance role, with the ability to develop more hours and additional coverage, with a built-in review after three months. This job is fully remote. The rate for this role is $30/hr

While the role requires keeping abreast of the top news of the day, the ideal candidate will pitch a specific beat to own and cover that stands out from the general day-to-day news. It could be as unique as Amazon workers organizing on TikTok, crypto regulations in Congress, or the race to replace Twitter. The ideal candidate will have one thing they love to cover and will want to cover it well.
