The Ideal Candidate:
1) Can commit to editing 15-25 articles per week (1,000-2,000 words each), or 20 hours of work.
2) Is a strong researcher able to proficiently edit articles on subjects s/he may be unfamiliar with.
3) Is looking for something more long-term and is willing to engage with a great team of writers and editors using Slack and Zoom.
4) Values accuracy and submitting polished editing on weekly deadline cycles.
Qualifications
Proven experience in professional editing or journalism
Familiar with the following applications: Google Docs, Slack, Zoom, ClickUp
Familiar with SEO best practices
Ability to edit technical information to ensure it is presented in a professional yet friendly tone
Ability to ensure identified keywords are used to (SEO) optimize all submitted copy
Ability to audit relevant internal and external links within copy using accurate and optimized anchor text
Sharp editing skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members, often across international time zones
Duties
Edit compelling and SEO-rich copy to outrank other pages on the web
Research a range of topics to ensure authoritative content is presented and clearly explained to readers
Meet weekly deadlines by filing pristine copy while managing multiple assignments
Attend Zoom meetings with the managing editor
Engage and communicate with editors to ensure deliverables are met on a daily basis using Slack
