Experienced PHP & Drupal Developer for Ecommerce Website Maintenance & Development

Job ID: 38721778

Budget: $15 – $25 CAD

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced PHP/Drupal developer to take over ongoing maintenance and development of our existing ecommerce website. The current system has legacy components that need to be maintained while also upgrading to more modern and efficient technologies. You will be responsible for working with a mix of older code and newer technologies (PHP 8, MariaDB) to ensure stability, scalability, and new feature development.

Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and work with legacy code (including InterJinn framework) to diagnose and resolve bugs and compatibility issues.
Develop and integrate new features using modern PHP, JavaScript, and database technologies.
Provide solutions for migrating legacy code to more modern frameworks (e.g., moving towards Drupal).
Maintain the Linux-based web server (Apache, MySQL/MariaDB, PHP Fast CGI), handling system configuration as necessary.
Work with GitLab for version control, ensuring a smooth collaborative workflow.
Assist in creating a clean, modern HTML/CSS structure while occasionally working with legacy HTML when necessary (e.g., for HTML emails).
Utilize RESTful services (and other service types) to connect with remote systems.
Debug, document, and orient yourself in the existing codebase with little or no initial documentation.

Skills Required:
PHP (Current version: PHP 8)
SQL (MySQL/MariaDB experience is required)
HTML/CSS (including legacy HTML from older systems)
JavaScript & JQuery (Significant amounts in use)
Drupal (or similar CMS preferred)
RESTful Services (XML, JSON, CSV)
Linux System Administration (Basic experience with Apache, MySQL/MariaDB, PHP Fast CGI)
Git/GitLab (Version control proficiency is a must)

Nice to Have:
Experience with transitioning legacy systems to more modern frameworks (e.g., moving towards Drupal).
Familiarity with older technologies such as InterJinn and understanding best practices for migrating to modern solutions.
Strong debugging and reverse-engineering skills to work with undocumented legacy code.
Ability to handle complex ecommerce logic and understand business-driven requirements.

Who We Are Looking For:
We need a developer who can hit the ground running, work independently, and quickly adapt to an existing codebase with minimal documentation. You should be comfortable with both modern and legacy systems, and able to solve problems with limited supervision.
