Drupal content interaction

I need a Drupal expert to give me an advise on which modules to utilize to have data on visitors of a closed area.
I would like to create a member area, where logged in users, can view special content (technical articles, reports, and similar). This part is simple. I would like to give the opportunity to content creators, that they have access to the stats of visits of their articles published in this closed area. They must also be able to connect to visitors, which viewed their articles, through private message system.
I need an advice on which modules I need to make something like described above. The main goal is that autors of content have full view of the readers and they can interact with them.
