50 years of Apollo

Apollo youth club turns 50 this year and we wondered how much it would cost to mark this special achievement with a piece of art that would tell future generations the story of the first fifty years. Apollo has spent the last 50 years empowering Black people through Saturday schools, after school clubs and many other community minded child service projects and is famous locally for the Apollo mini bus that collects children from the schools across Reading. The registered charity started when a group of teenage friends got together to try and address some of the issues they faced as the first children of the Windrush generation and through their grit and determination, they laid the foundations of an organisation that grew to become an integral part of all community life in Reading.
