Realistic Hybrid Creature Sketch

Job ID: 40366635

Budget: €8 – €30 EUR

I'm looking for an artist to create a realistic black and white sketch of a hybrid creature from the side

The hybrid is a large marine predator about 10.5 meters long with the body of a streamlined whale but slightly longer and more flexible, giving it a subtle serpent-like appearance. The front half of the body is thicker and heavier, while the midsection can bend more than a normal whale, allowing powerful twisting movements. Its head is long and narrow, similar to a crocodile or gar, but still clearly whale-like, with a slightly raised and reinforced forehead. The jaws are large and extend far forward, filled with thick, cone-shaped teeth in both the upper and lower jaws; the teeth are not serrated but look like solid spikes designed for gripping rather than cutting. The snout is smooth and hydrodynamic, tapering toward the tip, and the jawline is strong and slightly widened toward the base. The eyes are relatively small and placed slightly behind the jaw hinge, giving it a focused, predatory look.

The skin is dark grey to black, with a slightly matte, rubbery appearance rather than glossy, and may have subtle ridges or faint texture, making it look tough and durable, almost like flexible armor. The body has two small, paddle-like pectoral fins located just behind the head, rounded and not very long. Instead of a tall dorsal fin, it only has a low hump or ridge along the back, similar to a sperm whale. The tail is a wide horizontal whale fluke with two broad lobes and a slight notch in the middle, designed to move up and down rather than side to side. The base of the tail is thick and muscular, showing that it can generate strong bursts of speed.

Overall, the creature should feel like a heavy, controlled apex predator—not fast and sleek like a dolphin, but powerful and deliberate. Its posture and shape should suggest that it can coil slightly and then snap into violent side-to-side thrashing when attacking. The entire design should emphasize strength, control, and the ability to grab prey and tear it apart, rather than speed or elegance.

Ideal skills and experience:
- Expertise in realistic animal anatomy
- Proficiency in black and white sketching
- Creativity in combining animal features
